Question 1.

What was the relationship between the geography of Mesopotamia and the civilization that developed there? First, you need to understand what the geography of Mesopotamia was like. Second, you need to understand HOW the civilization developed in Mesopotamia...why did these people start living together in cities? To get the answer, you need to tell me the connection between the geography and the way these people lived.

Question 2.

How were the cities of Ur and Kish examples of civilization? To answer this question you must look back on page 140 to see what makes a civilization. Which of these things did the cities of Ur and Kish have?

Question 3.

Kish was a city-state. How was it governed? What was its relationship to the other city-states? To answer how it was governed you need to tell me who ruled, how they got power and held onto that power. The second part talks about the connections that Kish had with other city-states, if any. Describe the connections.
