Questions 1, 2, and 3 on page 190.
Question 1. What did the ancient Egyptians accomplish because of the "gifts of the Nile"?
First, you need to determine what the book means when they use the phrase, "the gifts of the Nile." What are "gifts" that a river can give? To answer the question, you need to then tell me what the ancient Egyptians were able to accomplish because of these gifts.
Question 2. Compare and contrast the conditions for the farmers of Mesopotamia and Egypt.
First you need to remember what life was like for farmers in Mesopotamia. If you don't remember, look back at Chapter 6 (esp. lesson 1) about Mesopotamia in your textbook. Then, tell me how the conditions for Mesopotamian and Egyptian farmers were the same and how they were different. If you want to use a diagram that would be a good idea.

Question 3. Explain how the geography of Egypt affected its early development as a civilization.
First, you need to understand the geography of Egypt. What was the land like, hot or cold, dry or swampy, rivers, lakes, seas, oceans, etc. To answer the question, you need to tell me how the geography changed their lives and how it affected the way that Egyptian civilization developed.

Question 3. Explain how the geography of the Nile marked the southern border of Egypt.
Ancient Egypt had a southern border, where was it? Then, tell me what you notice about the geography of this region that could explain why the Egyptians went no further.
