Question 1.

What kind of government did Han rulers create, and how did it affect people's lives? Describe the government that the Han dynasty had. Who ruled? Who gave them that power? What affect did the government or the rulers have on the people?

Question 3.

Why did the Han rulers need the ideas of both Confucianism and Legalism? Legalism and Confucianism are not really similar ideas. The Chinese chose to combine these two ideas into their government. Why did they combine the ideas into one government?

Question 4.

What feelings about the outside world might have led the Chinese to use middlemen for trade? First, what is a middleman? What does the name mean, a middle man? Then, knowing that the Chinese used them to do business for them, what does that tell you about the way the Chinese people felt about Indians and Europeans?
