Letter to Parents of the Class of 2011

from the Sixth Grade Team

As this year is winding down, we wanted to touch base with you to discuss the 2004-5 school year. There are a number of things that we would like to set into motion now to ensure that your child will find success in their sixth grade school year.
To help students to stay organized we are asking that all students come to school in August with a Three Ring Binder. Ideally, it would be a binder that is 1 1/2 to 2 inches. The binder will also need to have tabs for each of their subjects: Science, Math, Language Arts and Social Studies. They can put their writing paper in this binder eliminating the need for messy wire bound notebooks. Hopefully, this will also reduce the number of lost or late assignments.
The sixth grade team will hand out assignments that can be added directly to their binders. In addition to reducing lost homework this will also allow you to always know where you can expect to find your students’ assignments.
In addition, students will be able to put their Assignment Book into their binder. With this done, all student materials will be in one place, the binder.
The policy for the school, that began in the 1999-2000 school year is that book bags are not to be allowed in the classroom. We are trying to make organization as easy as possible for the students. With all of their materials in one place, a student would only need to bring their binder and any text books that are necessary. (pencils and pens are also needed.)
We are looking forward to a productive year and to helping your students to achieve to their highest potential.

Sincerely,
The Sixth Grade Team
