Helpful Hints for Highlighting

·       Highlight 20 to 30% of information.

·       Have highlighter poised and make 1 straight line (don’t color in the words).

·       Try to read a section and then decide what to highlight.

·       Do NOT color in a whole section or paragraph.

·       Only highlight main ideas and supporting details.

·       Highlight info which answers your questions or hits the focus.

·       Highlight titles or headings .

·       Do NOT highlight little words like articles (a, the) and transition words (next, then).

·       When highlighted words are read, you’ll sound like a robot or caveman.
