Project Oceanology Project Oceanology is a marine education center. The resources include a research vessel (Enviro-Lab), oceanographic equipment, a waterfront laboratory, and a highly trained staff of marine educators and technicians. Students use these resources to learn about the ocean environment and its inhabitants through direct, hands-on experiences. |

Our Earth Students learn about the earth: plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, continent formations and the geological timetable. Then they dig their way into rocks and minerals. Last but not least, they dive into a unit on solutions and pollution and figure out how they can protect not only the environment but its inhabitants. |

Biome & Inhabitants Students explore the different biomes: from the desert, across the grasslands, through the deciduous, coniferous and rain forest; into the lakes and oceans, to the frozen tundra. They review the five kingdoms, studying in depth animal diversity in the animal kingdom. |

Plants The final unit of the year involves having a green thumb. Students study characteristics that differentiate monocot from dicot plants. Students dissect , mount and label the parts of a flowering plant. Also, they conduct seed to plant growth experiments to determine germination rates, light tolerance, acidic verses fesh water exposure, and temperature tolerance. |
