Dear Students, Parents and Visitors,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Lebanon Public Schools website on behalf of the Lebanon Board of Education, administration, teachers and staff. Lebanon, Connecticut is a rural district in northern New London Country. The Lebanon Public Schools serves approximately 1076 students from the Town of Lebanon and several neighboring communities. The district is comprised of three schools, Lebanon Elementary School, Lebanon Middle School and Lyman Memorial High School. Lyman Memorial High School includes the Lebanon Regional Agriculture Science & Technology Center.
The local bumper sticker proudly states, “Lebanon is Farm Country”. Indeed, Lebanon and the surrounding communities are steeped a rich agricultural tradition that is alive and well today. The school system operates to honor the local rural culture while providing a pre-K through Grade 12 educational program that will support students in achieving the knowledge, skills and abilities they will need to be successful in the global community. Curriculum across all grades is developed and implemented to be engaging, challenging and foster cognitive development for our students. Our pre-K program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Lyman Memorial High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The Lebanon Public School students perform well on state and national assessments, are active in the community, and participate in acclaimed arts, and athletic programs. The students in the Agricultural Science and Technology Education program harvest local, state and national awards on a regular basis.
The students and staff had a successful and productive 2015-2016 school year. You can read about some of the accomplishments in the Annual Report. One of the endeavors was to create the 2016-2019 Lebanon Public Schools Strategic Plan. Both of these documents can be found under the District Information tab at the top of the page. Looking forward to the 2016-17 school year, we will be launching a 1 to 1 computing initiative with Chromebooks for students in grades 5 through 12. This is an extension of an already strong commitment to utilize technology in the classroom to facilitate a rigorous curriculum.
As you navigate through the district and school websites, you will come to recognize the Lebanon Public Schools is focused on meeting the educational needs of all students. I hope you enjoy your virtual visit. Sincerely,
Robert J. Angeli
